Service Description

This class is open to students in Years 5 & 6 from St Mary's Junior School. Beginners are welcome, and intermediate-level students will be extended through challenging topics, fine-tuning their skills and taking on leadership roles within their group. Classes take place from 7.25 - 8.25 am on Wednesdays in the Maker Space area. Dates for Term 2 are: May 18, 25, June 1, 8, 15, 22. In this interactive and hands-on class, students will work on learning and extending their debating skills in preparation for an Interschool Debate (with medallions) in Term 3. We will not be holding a debate night this term, but this class is a great opportunity for new students to learn the foundations debating and for returning students to develop a new level of expertise. Debating skills are valuable for students in further studies and work. Skills such as public speaking, logical thinking, research, structuring an argument, teamwork, leadership, confidence and many more all contribute to a student's success in school and life. This class is not just useful, but also highly enjoyable, with games and skill-building activities throughout. Furthermore, it allows students to have a say on things that matter to them and share their thoughts with a wider audience. Please note: If you prefer to pay by credit card, please email for a manual enrolment form and details to pay by direct deposit.
